SCHEDULE OF POPE BENEDICT XVI FOR OCTOBER 2012

The Pope will officiate five major ceremonies including the Synod on the New Evangelization and the opening of the Year of Faith.

October 4 – The Pope will visit the town of Loreto to mark the 50th year since Pope John XXIII travelled to pray there for the success of the Second Vatican Council.

October 7 – The Pope will celebrate the mass at St. Peter’s Square to welcome bishops for the Synod on New Evangelization. During the mass, he shall proclaim St. John of Avila and St. Hildegard of Bingen Doctors of the Church. The main Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew I and the Primate of all England Most Rev. Rowan Williams will deliver a speech on the New Evangelization.

October 11 – The Pope will celebrate the mass for the opening of the Year of Faith which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council.

October 21 – Seven new saints will be canonized by the Pope.

October 28 – The Pope will celebrate mass at St.Peter’s Square to mark the conclusion of the Synod of Bishops.
